Easter "basket" ideas

Easter "basket" alternatives plus 20 basket filler ideas | The Lowcountry Lady

As a child, I loved waking up to special surprises on Easter morning.  Coming up with creative Easter baskets is even more fun.  In Charleston, the weather is starting to heat up around this time of year, so I find myself gravitating towards outdoorsy baskets.  Also, I like to find functional "basket" alternatives.

Basket alternatives:
  • Sand Bucket
  • Tool box
  • Fishing Tackle Box
  • Train case/makeup case
  • Mini cooler (this Rubbermaid mini or this Igloo Mini are both great)
  • Kid sized suitcase or backpack
  • Tote bag (L.L. Bean makes the best totes around - sturdy, lots of color options & relatively inexpensive)
  • Toy pick up truck
  • Doll pool
  • Helmut

Fillers:
  • Beach toys like shovels or beach balls (this Kid O Cuppi scoop and ball has been a big hit with my little one and his friends)
  • Books
  • Bug catcher
  • Bubbles
  • Card games
  • Chalk
  • Coloring books, crayons, markers
  • Craft supplies (paint, beads, pipe cleaners)
  • Flip Flops or crocs
  • Frisbee
  • Garden tools
  • Hat
  • Legos
  • Magic grow capsules
  • Movies
  • Musical Instruments
  • Play-doh or model magic
  • PJs
  • Puzzles
  • Slinky
  • Stickers
  • Stuffed animal (we love all Jellycat® animals, especially this cute bunny)
  • Sunglasses
  • Swimsuit
  • Ticket or pass for local museum, aquarium or kid friendly show
  • Water bottle or mini Tervis tumbler
  • Work gloves (kid sized, of course!)
